I went to Smartstyle in Rowlett TX at 2501 Lakeview Pkwy, Rowlett, TX 75089 on 5-1-17 my stylist (if you can even call her that) was a black lady named Tina. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted, asked if she could do it, she said yes and sat me down.

I'd just taken my shoulder length hair down from cornrows so it was very crinkled. She starts coming through my crinkled, tangled hair with a fine tooth baby comb, then I see her grab the scissors, I stopped her and said "you're not going to wash it first ?" She said "no, I cut like this". She grabbed one big hunk of hair from the left side of my head and made one big chop! I'd already explained to her, before she cut that we were not going for a shaved look or too short, SHE DIDN'T CARE!

She continued to chop up the rest of my hair even after I reminded her another time "NOT TOO SHORT", whole haircut took about 90 seconds. Washed my hair quickly once and conditioned once, slicked my hair with something and threw me under the dryer. I'm in shock bc I never asked for this. I was extremely unhappy with the cut, it was 100% different than what I wanted.

I paid (so I wouldn't be accused of trying to skip out on a haircut and bawled my eyes out in my car. I called corporate on my way home and they said someone would contact me in 48. I called back to the Rowlett Smartstyle and Tina picked up. I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was the manager (LIES) I took that time to ask her why she did my hair like that and she pretty much told me to "Contact corporate like I know you already did", denied any wrongdoing, made sure to let me know I wasn't getting a refund and that she knew I would be a problem b/c I inquired about the $63 haircut, told me I could just slick the side down to get the look I was going for and hung up in my face.

In exactly 48 hours someone named Adrian contacted me, listened to my story, and pretty much just told me she wanted to talk to Tina about it and would get back with me. She never got back with me, I had to continue to call corporate and they finally told me my claim has been denied. (No one requested to see any pictures or meet with me) just denied and told me I would not be getting a refund. I finally call her back on the cell phone she contacted me on after a week from a different number b/c she wouldn't pickup on my number, she finally asked me to text pictures of my hair to her phone on May 11 as of today I'm still waiting for a response or resolution.

Corporate is a joke, I'd missed 4 days of work b/c I can't wear a hat or scarf to work and had to purchase a wig just to get back to work. Corporate doesn't have a number to reach anyone on and really don't care about your issue b/c they can only email district leaders and managers. The only other alternative is to file a lawsuit, I asked them for their legal dpt, they said "they didn't have one", I asked for their claims dpt they told me they were "SELF INSURED" which means to me, they are NOT insured. This has been pure ***, I basically paid someone $63 to cut all my hair off and to a point where it CANNOT be corrected b/c of the plugs missing and uneven cuts and am now responsible for paying the costs of fixing her mistake.

I've gone to 2 stylist and they have told me they would love to try to fix it but the only thing that could be done is to shave it off along with the other side to match other side. Pretty much giving me, a 30 year old mom, a mo-hawk. My wedding anniversary is this weekend, my children's graduation, vacation, family reunion and countless of other events this summer and I'm stuck with this daily reminder of the mistake I made by walking into this "salon" I'm reminded of an evil witch that disrespected my body and is trying to get away with it.

Yes, hair grows back but what do I do in the meantime, until my hair grows at least long enough to correct the cut? Smartstyle and their corporate office are a joke and I'm exhausted from it all, a lawsuit is the only solution at this point.

Reason of review: Poor customer service, Rude inexperienced stylists, I am not being taken serious, lack of care or concern for my issue.

Monetary Loss: $1250.

Preferred solution: Full refund of haircut, wig and other purchases made to cover up Tina's mistake. Reimbursement for loss of wages..

They need to be all shut down!! Corporate office of smart styles should have some heads rolling!!

But when I called and talked to a ignorant mrs. Wise she stuck up for thos e fools called stylists!! I don't think Walmart should let them share their store.

I know they are not affilated with smart styles but alot of people dont know that. CLOSE THEM ALL!!!

Why didn't you have her stop when you saw her cut a chunk off?? And why didn't you demand not to pay for it there at the salon??

I would've been pissed! But I also would've checked the reviews on the salon before going as my hair is very important to me. Also, with the special occasion you had coming up, why not splurge on a better salon? I ask this since it seems you had more since you bought a wig.

Just saying. Sorry this happened to you....but in my experiences...you get what you pay for :/

First, I've always had great cuts and experiences with smartstyle, with a different stylist and a different location. I assumed they would all be this good, after all, these are licensed cosmetologist, NOT a beauty School.

Thats where I went wrong, thinking all the stylist they hired would be as good as the 2 ladies I'd used before. Second, my back was turned from the mirror, I felt her cut it but what was I going to do, demand she glue it back in? I hurry and remind her again not too short and she ignored it. The haircut didn't last that long and I once again assumed she knew what she was doing bc I didn't think anyone would be that crazy to do something like this to me.

Being naive, at the moment thinking that most people in the world are good and that crazy people like her don't exist. My first instinct was to pick up a hot curling iron and knock the *** out of her for doing this to me but I have a family and wasn't going to risk going to jail. 3rd, I didn't get what I paid for, that cut cost me waaaay more than a higher end salon would have for a cut which she surprised me with at the end. Just bc you pay more money for a service doesn't mean you're going to get better service.

I actually did not have more money to spend on a wig, which is why I'm pissed! This was a simple cut, she lied and said she could do so she could get my money.

No one goes to get their hair done, only to have to spend hundreds more to fix it. If smartstyle had a better attitude toward the issue, maybe it would help but corporate office and management are just as pathetic and nasty as the stylist.

So did you steal the wig, since you did not have enough money to buy it? Your story cries of Call in the Wahhhhhhmbulance!

Anonymous, let me take a moment to educate you. I purchased the wig from my savings account, that account is used for emergencies and this really didn't qualify as one.

However, since wearing a hat or scarf is not the most appropriate attire in my line of work, I reluctantly did so. In order to continue to work, I was forced to make this extra purchase. Usually, those of us who like to keep a healthy balance in our savings accounts, will often use the statement "didn't really have the money to make the purchase" or something alike. The reason being, is b/c an individual, conscience of the managing of their money, knows that the first rule of saving is to act like its not even there and not look at it as a source unless it is absolutely necessary.

My original budget did not allow extra spending beyond the haircut. No, I did not steal it and I feel so bad that the thought of that, was the first thing that crossed your mind. You see, some of us care a great deal about our appearance at least those of us that actually have a career. Get off of your food stamps and gov't assistance and you'll be able to understand exactly where I'm coming from.

Just b/c you steal doesn't mean that everyone else has to as well, I work hard for what I have. Hair grows back but maturity is not so easy to come by as I can see from your ignorant and unnecessary comment.
