The worst day I've ever had at a Beauty Salon! SmartStyle. Talk about Rip-Off. I've gotten perms for years and Never I mean Never has it cost over 60$ My hair is Just past my shoulders. When I went to pay the bill,I was Shocked when she said 'That'll be 114.00$!!please.' OMG! At first I thought she was joking,But I was the only one that saw the humor. Then she explained to how she had used extra bottles of whatever? And that is why it was so much$. Well.Now-- Not once in the 3-hours I was there did this girl say anything about the cost much less if it was o.k. with me that she was adding on all this on to my total bill. I felt like this was some sort of bait and switch scam. Still in Shock,standing at the check out,I told I had never paid over 60$ for a perm and was not going to today either. I calmly ask if I could speak to the manager about this matter . She said she'd call him. So I went over and sat down and waited for about 20min. I then went back up to the desk and ask if they had gotten in touch the manager yet and they said no,That he had not returned ther're phone call. So I ask then if I could get his name and number and I would speak to him. I was told I could not have his name or number and I needed to just pay my bill. I told them was Not going to happen until I spoke with their boss First. I also told them at the same time 'If I took my car to the shop and the price was over 50$ they where to cantact me first before doing the work.'And the same should apply with SmartStyle.

At this point I told them I was going just outside the walmart store entrance and wait until thier boss called back and that I would Not leave until this was hole situation was resovled. 10minutes later the girl 'Ester'that had given me the perm came out and ask me to come back in. I ask>Did you hear from the boss? She said No,But they had come up with a solution. That I would give them 60$cash today and have to pay the rest within the next few weeks. I thought at this point,Well That'll give me time enough to contact thier boss for further review on this matter.

After I gave them my 60$cash,They wrote my drivers license # phone number# .I then ask them for a reciept,since it was cash and I needed something besides the hand written note they handed me saying that I had paid 60$ NOTE:it was written on a standard order sheet (No Smart Style Letter head--or any company information on it what so ever! That is when things went Way-Bad. I ask the girl to at least sign the paper she had written since it didn't have a Logo-- as to whom I'd given my Cash to.She then said that She would NOt sign anything Or even give me her name,the boss' name,

saying that My hair perm was a good enough receipt.

At this point,I told We'd just have to go back to point 'A' I'd just sit back down and wait for their boss to call back.

Then they said they would call the police if I didn't leave the store.

OMG-I thought I've never been arrested and This is not a good day to start!

So I left the store No reciept-No-Names or numbers.

This does Not end here,I will be Contacting a Lawyer---& The Media Today,I have nothing to hide Unlike the Employees at SmartStyle/Walmart.

Give me a price either. Years ago many years I got the worse cut ever at their Whiteville NC store and they threatened me with the police.

Now I have them a second chance charged 95.00 for a perm that I don't have.

My hair looks worse. So I get it

This one was at their Denver NC store. My review is nested.

I also have spent over 200. And haven't gotten any good products from there

Sorry but seems like you are blaming someone else fir your mistake. You should have found this info out before the perm. You have to accept some responsibility in this situation.

Did you have the matter resolved. If not smart style is a Regis company, and you should call them.

What was the price advertised as? What did they tell you it would cost when you asked about the price upfront?

I had something similar happen. I asked for a regular cut and shampoo and they ended up straightening my hair blow drying it and doing a deep conditioning that I had no idea they even did since my head was in the sink.

When they straightened it I was like hmmm I didn't ask for this but I figured it was something the girl just wanted to do cuz she was complimenting my hair the whole time and I have had that done before in a dif salon where they did extra just becuz they wanted to. Then I get to the counter and a hair cut and shampoo should have only been like 30-40$ and its was 70$. I said Um why is this. They said well we charged u twice for a hair cut cuz ur hair is long and the deep conditioner and straightening and she charged for a somwthing else.

I soad I didn't ask for that. She's like well u let her straighten it and condition it. I said I didn't know she was deep conditioning idk how many times she put things in my hair and what I just sat there while she washed it with my eyes shut. And I didn't know I was paying for the straightening.

She's like well u have to pay it and u can call the 1800 number and complain to them and she was a *** about it and rude. They knew I didn't ask for it. When I got there the cashier asked what I wanted I said a cut she said u want it shampooed I said Ya sure just shampoo and a cut/more like trim. I just wanted my bangs fixed(shortened since they grew out) and my hair trimmed.

She said okay. Printed my receipt and gave it to another girl and i sat down and the new girl looked at the recipt and said shampoo and cut I said yes just a shampoo and cut and explained what I wanted done same as I did to cashier. She dos all the extra stuff based off the recipt which I never saw cuz the cashier gave it straight to the girl who cut my hair and she did all the extra stuff and then wen I went up I said I didn't what that when the girl who did my hair was checkingn me out. And they called the girl from before the cashier and the manager put and said what did she say she wanted the girl said a cut and color I asked do u want it straightened and a deep condition and she said yes.

I was like um no u didn't and no I didn't. All I said was cut and u asked if I wanted a shampoo and I said sure just a shampoo. Thad when the manager started being a *** and said well u got it done so u need to pay for it and call this number. So I left.

I was pissed. I she gotten my hair done at many walmarts in my day never have I ever paid 70$ for a cut and shampoo and a trim at that.

Pissed!!!!! They are purposely scamming people and adding *** without telling them till its time to pay for it.

Well did you ask for a haircut and style? Also when your hair is longer and takes more chemical it will be a more expensive perm.

Those per sets costs money and her time and her service is included longer hair takes longer time.

This is no longer a low ball industry if you want a cheap perm get a 5 dollar home perm and a friend to roll it. I would not have backed down either I will not perform a 100 dollar perm for 60 bucks if you read the sign it says 50 dollars and up quit wanting a 100 dollar job for 50 bucks you want cheap service go to the local beauty school and I guarantee you they will add on haircut dry and style as well

I have a perm that STILL SMELLS after 4 months

and they insist it's not their fault .I am 63 and KNOW BETTER !

Has there been a change in medication? This can effect your perm in different ways.

It possibly could have been a bad perm but you can't just simply blame the stylist. It's not like she woke up that morning and thought...I'm gonna jack up some ladies hair today.

I have been getting spiral perms for a long time . This last time was pathetic the man doing my hair didn't leave the chemicals on for the entire time ( I know this because I watched him turn the know on the timer to shorten the time ) oh and it took him a total of 5 &1/2 hours to complete the process.

My hair is straight as a pin and is coming out (shedding) at an alarming rate. I'm just at a loss for words. ..

I paid $59.95 & a $5 tip they are offering me a 55.00 gift card to use at their salon.... I am not pleased :x

I am at the salon on E main st. Columbus Ohio and I've been waiting outside for someone to open the store.

Did I mention it is 3:30 in the afternoon and its been over thirty minutes.

I started coming to this one because the one in Canal Winchester ohio has girls running a scam and over charging for services they didn't do.

Spiral perms cost more because the stylist has to take special classes for this. You just want something for nothing .

the stylist only took 5.5hrs and you only want to pay 60.,really..!! I've been a hairdresser for 33yrs.and ive never done a spiral that cheap.your hair is very long and does take a while to do,you should pay the bill.

They were very generous to give you perks and you still don't want topay . sounds like your a *** and probably do this everywhere u go to get perks.you should go to jail for this.

I got a cut at one and it wasn't that good, but it wasn't awful. So you know what I did?

I bought a thinning comb and cut my own hair now.

So now if it looks bad I'll have no one to blame but myself. Besides, it's just HAIR.

As a stylist and a smartstyle stylist I must tell you that your really unreasonable with this post for a few reasons...

1) you expect services on the unreasonably cheap! you expect us to work for nothing??? $60 - 100 for a perm is a very good deal! go to another salon I dare ya because they will charge $200 for a perm....

2) get a price quote BEFORE if you are that uptight.

3) you opened yourself up majorly to be sued for liable by both Regis corp and the stylist because you publicly defamed the exact salon and you named the stylist where her clientele and all can see.

If I were that stylist and saw this, I would be suing you for severely more than what you payed for your perm....

Rediculous!!!
