This hair cut salon are thieves. According to the sing they announce hair cuts for 14.75 but when you go to pay for they ended up charging 36.75 They added 3.00 dollars for conditioner and 17.50 for drying the hair.

I can't believe they charge more for drying the hair and the worse is that they don't tell you before they perform the services.

This is a cheap salon and charged like they are a top of the cream salon. They are THIEVES with a license to robbed and somebody got to stop them.

Monetary Loss: $36.

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas

The sign says haircut and shampoo starting at $15.50...starting at means it is $15.50 just for the shampoo and cut. Anything beyond that is extra.

$15.50 is a great price for a hair cut from someone whom paid the same amount for their schooling as a person in a salon where you would be charged $55 for your haircut, but it is not a "Walmart" haircut. It is a haircut from a salon that is owned by Regis, and is a multi-billion dollar company. I am sorry that you misunderstood what you read or took it as you should receive free services because you was only paying for a cheap haircut, but I have never bought a dinner roll and expected to get the rest of my meal for free.

That is preposterous. :x

Even the beauty schools where I live charge extra for a cut and blow dry style. When they blow dry your hair they do style it too.

My thought is that the person complaining about being charged for conditioner, meant to say mousse or some other styling product, plus hair spray. These products do cost any salon money.

Any time I get my hair cut, the stylist asks me if I want it shampooed and I always make sure my hair is clean and product free before going to any type of salon because it is real hard on my neck to lean back and have my hair shampooed. They always spray water on it, and when they are done with the cut they ask me if I want any product and style, to which I say no, in order to save money.

I worked for Smart Style. I am hardworking and do great work.

I can understand the complaints to a degree. I was not happy working there 100%. We could not have floor mats (which can be bad for your back, feet and hips), chairs were too high (bad for back and shoulders), discounts were too cheap, $6, $7 and $9 haircuts, commission base, so you could not meet your commission when these promotions went on, then upper management would complain about not meeting commission. A happy healthy stylist, is a good stylist, a staying stylist and does great work, that equals happy customers.

Now, I as a consumer, would never ever go get my haircut anywhere after 7:30 PM, especially 30 minutes before closing. People are human and they get tired. And a trim is not just a trim. It takes the same amount of effort no matter how much you cut off.

Also, a $5.00 tip is about average for a haircut. I do agree, the charge for the conditioner is cheap and tacky.

But, I worked for the "man" and that's what we are told we do. Just trying to make an honest dollar.

Wow I can't believe the extremely non professional attitudes the stylist on here have. I was searching online to see if the prices are listed anywhere and my search brought me here.

This is making me think twice about going there myself. I have never been to a salon that charges extra for conditioner when they are doing a wash that is just ridiculous.

I do understand that styling the hair would be extra but most places won't have that outlined on the price board and when a stylist asks they don't inform you that it will be extra but I am smart enough to ask... If the prices these ladies have quoted are correct then I might as well go to a salon that the style is included and I will still pay about the same and probably get a better hair cut...

NO salon I have EVER gone to, charged me more to have conditioner applied to my hair after it was shampooed! If it's a special conditioning treatment that isn't rubbed in/rinsed out in seconds, then I can see charging extra for it.

But to be charged for "a squirt out of a bottle" conditioner?

I dont think so. That just makes the company look cheap & tacky.

Please do not go to smart styles in myrtle beach(carolina forest)they will screw your hair up. I walked in blonde and walked out orange as a pumpkin. The manager and employees were very rude. They need to go out of business.

I also work 4 smart style n evry1 wants 2 complain about the prices allthe time..i think 15.50 is very reasonable for a shampoo n haircut. I have been lookn up other salons prices and n the city i live in we are by far 1 of the most reasonable salons n my city besides a barber shop.

And if u are a woman going 2 a barber to get ur hair cut..good luck! U can get a shampoo, haircut, conditoner, and a blowdry for around $30-35 which i think is very reasonable..it takes time 2 dry hair and if u think about it..as A stylist time is money..y does evry1 wants something for free???? This is sooo irritating..b4 i went 2 school 4 hair i would pAy over 100 or more to gey my hair done. I nevr knew ther was a smart style out ther if i did i would try them..inwork wit sum of he nicest, knowledgble and very good stylists that i have learned alot from..im sure ther is complaints evry wher but evry1 thinks since we are n walmarts..do ppl wants a cut for freeeee?!

Its crazy! And we are owned by regis..which alot of ppl do not kno

Smart Styles is like ala carte...you pay for services as you ask for them. You can't go to a restaurant and not expect to pay for the extras...The shampoo is complimentary and is needed to give you the results you're wanting for the haircut...and why not have it styled, how else would you know what to expect when you attempt to style your hair yourself...As for being located, we have to pay our dues to the same ST BD as the stylist that work in high end salons, don't get it twisted this is a choice, just like you have a choice to go elsewhere...

If personal attacks will be deleted why haven't all these responses been deleted. Her as the customer has a right to complain of her experiences.

Have you not heard before that the customer is always right?? And talking about people being adults, calling her names like *** doesn't seem very mature to me.

Maybe your just a C U N T did I spell that correctly. I was a stylist for Smartstyle and they are a good company to work for with some very hard working stylists.

Your very quick to point out everyones mistakes but maybe you should look at your own before you bash someone else.

Last time I checked not one of us is perfect even you. You have never made a mistake at your job before, I have but I learned and I know better now.

Guest

Im sorry I did not realize you were perfect Im not sure what a dolt is but you may want to check what you wrote as well. I think, and being an uneducated DOLT I thought you spelled SING not SIGN but I was not being nasty and pointing out your miss spells. As I did not realized that you have never made a mistake my fault

Actually cosmetology school does not teach grammar or any education such as that considering they are busy teaching us Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Electricity, and then all of the normal hair studies electives. If you want to get big with grammar you saying "Somebody got to stop them" is not proper english.

It should be "Somebody needs to stop them." or "Somebody should stop them." Get a clue.

Next time ask, okay is conditioner extra, alright well the sign says a Shampoo and Cut is ____ amount of money, does that include the blowdry? Obviously they are going to charge more to style it, it takes time out of their days where they could be working on another client hitting comission than spending the time on one person.

Guest

Hey miss Stylist, you made yourself look like a complete dolt. Obviously that cosmetology school did not teach you grammar and how to spell.

And, yeah it is a rip off. My hair looks horrible. My bangs are uneven, haircut looks like a two year old did it, and I paid 17 dollars for a *** haircut. Don't even get me riled about the lady who cut my hair.

She was in a fowl mood and was ready to leave, hence the horrible haircut. Never going back.

First of all as a SmartStyle stylist for the last 10 years, I understand that some cliens can not read the sign that says shampoo and hair cut is one price and a shampoo cut and express dry is another. No part of that says anything about conditioner.

So then in having common sence would you not assume that it would cost extra. As common sence I understand is not so common we also do a consalt with every client going over everything you want done and the cost of EVERYTHING. I wonder how you would feel if someone came to your place of employment and degraded you.

Just because we are located inside walmart does not mean we are some *** backwater hillbilly hairdressers. We go to the same cosmetology schools as people who work in the high end salons and probably make more money.
